Wednesday, January 17, 2018 is our next guild meeting.
January brings us cold weather. Rain. Ice. Snow. It’s weird. 12C one day. -12C the next. The canal is open for skating. The canal is closed for skating. Wear your bathing suits. Wear your fake fur lined undies. You get the idea. Weird.
So to warm our hearts we will be making a quick (well quick for this particular rose) David Austin Rose. Kellie Barclay of our Kitchener chapter has made up this clever method for gorgeous David Austin Roses that you can actually make and sell for your cakes. Not like the ones that take days and you have to charge $300 each for. Gorgeous roses to adorn special cakes. Tutorials will be emailed to those paid members that attend the meeting so you can finish up at home and have a handy reference for later.
We also have a couple of treats to give away to paid members only. Thanks to Icing Inspirations for your generosity.
Please bring the following and have some fun:
Supplies for the flower:
- gum paste in pink or colour of your choice and a tiny bit of green
- 24 g wires
- 20 g wires
- floral tape in white
- pearl stamens if you like
- 3 sizes of 5 petal cutters (50 mm, 60 mm & 80 mm) or your choice
- ball tool
- styrofoam for parking wires and petals
- foam pad
- cel board
- white glue
- also your basic flower tools such as glue etc. and a box to take them home
Don’t forget that if you are missing a few items that we are always willing to share.
There are some new sugar paste recipes on the website under the Confectionery category and I will be adding more plus a post on how to use them all.
February’s meeting will have a Valentine’s tutorial.
I’m available to help including the basics if that’s what you need. Please don’t skip the meeting because you think we know more than you do.
It’s how you learn and how we learn. And I know you have something to teach us!
Bring show and tell, questions, whatever you like.
Got something to demo? We love you. Go for it.
If you are not yet a member, you may attend for $5.00
