Casablanca Lily Class
Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 9am-4:30pm
Come learn how to make realistic looking Casablanca Lilies. We will be making the classic white flower, a bud and leaves using two kinds of gum paste. Lorrie will be demonstrating how to switch things up using the knowledge and skills you learn in this class. You will be able to make almost any kind of lily and any colour of lily that you like. Black Beauty is pictured below to show one alternative. The possibilities are endless. These are based on real plants that Lorrie has had over the years.
Also covered will be how to make these stunning flowers a little simpler and faster so that you can incorporate them into your cakes for sale and keep them affordable. Also covered will be the various methods of setting the colour (dipping/glazing/steaming) and why you should use a different paste for different parts of the flower.
You will also receive instructions on how to re-create them at home.
Veiners for these flowers are available through some of our trusted sources and if you sign up before mid-August and indicate that you want them we can get some of them in for sale on the day of the class.
Please bring a small vase to display your flower in.
Everything needed for this class is supplied (except a vase and a box you will need to bring to take your sugar flowers home in) including a light lunch on Saturday. Cost is $100 + HST
Some sugar experience is recommended. If you aren’t sure you have enough experience, email Lorrie and ask.
Class limited to 6 seats and will be held at I Do Cakes in Stittsville.
